All Areas Demolition Excavation was contracted by Waterway Constructions to demolish the old Stingray Creek Bridge at Laurieton on the NSW North Coast. This involved removal of asbestos pipes along the bridge & the detailed demolition of the entire concrete bridge structure.
Being over a waterway, many environmental factors had to be considered when planning our demolition methodology. The use of barges, debris curtains, catch platforms & floating pontoons were implemented to prevent any debris from entering the water. Protection of the marine environment was of the highest priority during demolition.
Live traffic on the new bridge, beside the old Stingray Creek Bridge, was another factor to be taken into account. Crane works were completed with minimum disruption to traffic. Powerlines, located close to the lifting area, presented another hazard to be controlled. Proper planning & use of resources, enabled the demolition to be carried out with the highest regard for all factors.
